Enhance Google Vids: AI Avatars Now Available for Presentations

Google Workspace continues to evolve with advanced artificial intelligence integrations, bringing more dynamic and engaging options to content creation. A recent update introduces the ability to incorporate AI-powered avatars into Google Vids, specifically when converting existing Google Slides presentations.
This enhancement builds upon the existing functionality that allows users to transform their Google Slides content directly into Google Vids. Previously, this process leveraged Gemini to assist with generating scripts, voiceovers, and background music. Now, the introduction of AI avatars takes this a step further, enabling users to add a virtual spokesperson to their videos.
When converting a Google Slides presentation into a Google Vid, users can now select the option to include AI avatars. These avatars are designed to be dynamically inserted throughout the imported slides, acting as a visual presenter. The aim is to make the generated Vid feel more personal, relatable, and ultimately, more engaging for the viewer.
This functionality streamlines the video creation process, allowing for the quick transformation of static presentations into more interactive video content without the need for manual video production or external tools. It represents a significant step towards making sophisticated video production capabilities more accessible within the Google Workspace ecosystem.
For Google Workspace Administrators, it is important to note that this feature operates without any direct administrative controls. There are no specific settings in the Admin Console that govern the availability or use of AI avatars in Google Vids for end-users.
However, administrators should be aware of the usage limits associated with this new capability. Through to July 1, 2026, Workspace customers will benefit from promotional access, which provides higher limits for adding avatars when converting presentations to Vids. This period is intended to allow users to experiment extensively with the feature.
Following July 1, 2026, per-user usage limits will be enforced. Google has indicated that more detailed information regarding these updated usage limits will be provided in the Help Centre before they come into effect. Administrators may wish to monitor Google's official documentation for these forthcoming details to manage user expectations and potential licensing requirements.
The rollout of this feature is being conducted in phases:
This feature is available across a broad range of Google Workspace editions:
It is important to note that for Business Starter, Enterprise Starter, Education Plus, Nonprofits, and Teaching and Learning add-on accounts, access to generative AI features in Vids, including AI avatars, is available for a limited time, specifically through May 31, 2026. Administrators should factor this promotional period into their planning and communication with users.
